Our restaurant reviews will be conducted periodically by average citizens that we have recruited to try out
area eateries. The citizens pick the restaurant they want to review and we do not influence their decisions
in any way. The restaurants will be judged on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest ranking. Each restaurant will earn
1 blue bartender (seen to the right) for the following categories; atmosphere, menu selection, food quality, service, and price. |

Nick's Steak and Taphouse
182 S. South Street
Gastonia, NC 28052
704-867-6777
Nick's opened in the old Webb Movie Theater in Downtown Gastonia. The atmosphere was original and very tastefully done with artifacts from the old theater. The interior had an interesting layout and diners were on two separate levels. The staff was obviously well trained and very attentive and polite. Nick, the owner, was on hand and he greeted each table personally. The shrimp appetizer was delicious and the Ribeye steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The meal was excellent and the only complaint was that there was not enough room for the Bourbon Pecan Pie for dessert. For an independent steakhouse the prices were reasonable and the portions were about what was expected. The menu has a mixed variety of selections without being overwhelming. There was a large selection of a variety of beers and true to it's name a good selection of beers on tap. The overall experience was excellent and the highest rating is recommended.
